College Visits & Job Shadowing Information

COLLEGE VISITS

Seniors are allowed two excused college visit days, Juniors are allowed one. These days will not count against them or cause them not to be Finals exempt as long as the correct steps are taken.

The following steps must be taken in order for the day to be excused:

  1. Student will schedule the college visit.
  2. A parent must call the attendance line to let the school know the student will be missing school.
  3. While at the visit, the student must obtain paperwork from college as proof of attendance.
  4. Student will turn that paperwork into the attendance office when they return to school and the absence will be given the “College Visit” code at that time.

JOB SHADOWING

Seniors and juniors are allowed one excused job shadowing day. This day will not count against them or cause them not to be Finals exempt as long as the correct steps are taken.

The following steps must be taken in order for the day to be excused:

  1. Set up the job shadow with the employer.
  2. Go to the attendance desk to get the job shadow paperwork, which needs to be signed by the student and a parent.
  3. Bring the paperwork back to the main office so the school knows the date of the job shadowing.
  4. The paperwork issued from the main office should be taken with you to the job shadow event and needs to be signed by the employer.
  5. When the student returns to school, they will turn in the signed paperwork to the attendance desk for the day to be coded with the “Job Shadow” code.
