Summer Chromebook Information
-
YES! Most students have the option to take their chromebook home for the summer.
YOU CANNOT TAKE IT HOME IF:
- you are currently in daily check in/check out
- you are moving out of the Webb City School District over the summer
- you will be homeschooled next year
- your parents don’t want you to have it at home over the summer
- you prefer not to take your device home for the summer
- you need to have your chromebook repaired over the summer
Chromebooks and chargers CANNOT be left in lockers or in classrooms over the summer. The entire building is cleaned and rearranged over the summer and your device/charger could get lost or accidentally thrown away.- If you don’t want to take your device home, bring it to the LMC before you leave for summer break.
- You can pick up your chromebook in August when you pay your insurance for the next school year.
-
Storing your chromebook at home for the summer:
- Fully Charge
- Shut Down
- Safe Place
- Charge Monthly
Make sure the chromebook is fully charged and then turn it off before storing it.
- Don’t just close the lid. Make sure you actually shut it down!
Store the device and charger in a safe place away from pets and people. Keep it high and dry.
Most chromebook batteries will run down even when the device is shut off. You need to fully charge your chromebook once a month during the summer to maintain its battery health.
- Letting the battery die completely could result in your device reverting to factory settings. If this happens, your device will be totally unusable and you will need to visit the tech office in the library before school starts to get that fixed.
-
- Turn in your chromebook, charger, and bag on the last day of school after you are finished taking your last summative or final. (if you aren't finals exempt)
- If the chromebook is damaged or vandalized, applicable repair fees will be added to your account and an invoice mailed to your parents.
- We will keep your chromebook on a shelf until we get an enrollment notice from your new school.
- If you end up not moving over the summer, we will give you back your chromebook when you pay your chromebook insurance for the next school year.
If you leave the Webb City R7 School District without turning in your school issued device, it will be disabled and we will report it as stolen to the local police department.
-
