Envirothon Regional Champions

Please congratulate these 5 outstanding WCHS students for their performance yesterday in the Southwest Regional Envirothon. Not only did they take 1st overall in the event, but crushed their competition (13 schools in the southwest Missouri area, most in the Springfield area) getting the highest score in 4 of the 6 categories, including Wildlife, Aquatics, Forestry and Oral Presentation.
What is also impressive is that they used all of their own time to prepare for this event, even sacrificing their day off of school to go visit the prairie that they had to present on. This is a national competition established in 1988. They have qualified for state and a win there would qualify them for nationals.
